Albuquerque’s best improv troupe welcomes back original and founding member Nando Fresquez for four shows, beginning February 4th and running every Friday in October at 8pm at the Box Performance Space. Since 2007, The One Night Stanleys have been thrilling audiences with their lightning fast, hilarious, completely improvised performances, twice having been named “Best Improv Troupe” by the Weekly Alibi. Now, for the first time in two years, the original line-up is back in its entirety.
For the past two years, Nando Fresquez has lived and performed in Scotland, performing with several different improv teams and nationally recognized puppet theatre productions, spending his downtime winning over the entirety of the cold, Scottish moors. Albuquerque missed him, but the rest of the One Night Stanleys missed him most of all.
“Having Nando back has really invigorated the team,” says Stanley Steve Lucero. “Our shows are always a good time- funny, absurd, very often weird, but having Nando back has amped up the energy.”
But this run of four shows won’t just be the Nando Show. “What is special about the Stanleys is the chemistry between the five of us,” says Lucero. The rest of the One Night Stanleys are as follows:
Joe Carney- an alumni of the famed Improv Olympic (IO) in Chicago.
Alex Knight- a member of Albuquerque’s renown Tricklock Company and currently appearing in The Show at the Box Performance Space.
Steve Lucero- an accomplished improviser and puppeteer, spending his days lawyer-ing around town.
Adrian Wallen- another accomplished improviser, former member of Unitard.
