CARDBOARD PLAYHOUSE

Cardboard Playhouse Productions, created by Doug and Kristin in December 2004, prides itself on being one of the only children's theatre companies in Albuquerque that casts children on their ability to perform, not on their ability to pay. CPP keeps itself viable by generating revenue through ticket sales only. CPP was formed through a love of both improv and children, and we foster children's self expression, self confidence, and creativity through the use of an improv-based theatrical program. While other children's theatres may discourage children from "acting up", we feel it is vitally important to encourage them to "act up" - that is, ask them to think for themselves and to take a sense of ownership in the show. To date, CPP has produced over 40 shows and has cast over 500 local adult and child actors.

Doug Montoya has been involved in improv for over two decades. He studied improv under Duke Stroud and Whitney Rydbeck at Pasadena City College, and has strong managing, marketing, and design skills as well as a great talent for producing and directing theatre. He works well with youth and adults and has served on numerous community associations and boards. Doug is the parent of a sixteen-year-old son.
